PIC-0014Today, I pulled the Dahon Speed 8 out of storage as it will be perfect for the journey at hand later today. I need to ride the 4 miles to the west side train station and take the Metra train to the Northbrook stop. Once there, I need to unfold the wee bike and make it over to the lady’s place of employment so that we can meet the parents for dinner.

I bought the Dahon a couple of years back for the sole purpose of being able to always bring it on the Metra. The current bike rules only allow full size bikes on the trains on off peak hours, but getting your bike onto the train is always up to the conductor’s call. This can be painful when they won’t let your bike on.Bagged, folded bikes are always allowed on the train.

The overall distance that I will be pedaling will probably be about 8 miles so the Dahon will be perfect for this trip. The frame flex and 20 inch wheels with 120 PSI tires are not for comfort on longer rides.
